The Shadow Hold

Trailing-
Down, down,
Into the darkest abyss-
A black heart;
Emptying emotion onto the slag ground-
A fluttering inside is not of Fireflies, Love;
But instead of Hell’s Bats, Contempt!

The blackness consumes more,
Opening up to allow for just a glimpse-
Their Evil eyes radiate yellow, like their fangs-
A nocturnal hissing arises;
They are searching, finding-
They hang like rag dolls from her Heart’s Apocalypse-
They beckon with subtle flaps of their wings-

Scuttling upon the velvet cape,
A raking of nails upon concrete-
The slither of grizzly ghouls in the beyond-
She comes upon the sight,
Leaving fear inside, away from the light-
Snakes dance into diamond Oblivion-
Swaying into a patch of gray- Off balance, stumbling blindly-

The racking of clacking hits home now-
She sees into hungry eyes, blank eyes;
Whispering the Insanity they so desire-
Black beings into the night;
Furry and wretched, they scurry with forked tongues-
The rats of the Behemoth Dead-
Many have seen death among them- Many are protected among them-

Tickling tendrils of Fate have swung down;
They blind her- They linger there-
As she waits for The Coming- As she wades into Surrender-
A prick and a poke-
A quick stab of urgency-
The black ones, brown ones,
Moving slowly to abdicate her-

Weaving their webs of Deceit;
She takes a step further down- Further in-
A feline of jet caresses her calves warmly-
Circulating the Blood of Abandon;
Her rightful place inside of Absolution-
She reaches-
It feels heavy, leaden- Leaden Hearted!

Taking her last-
Made her way this far-
Entombed-
The last ray, Abolished;
Sinking into deep Intoxication-
The Allure and the Farce-
All at once, intermingling-

Crawling in-
Feeding the Dark-
Beckoning-
Still it is feeding-
Closing the casket upon herself,
Feeling the Sickness keep her-
Lying awake in a Cold Death-

I am the Dark, Cold, Guileless girl-
I am all of what you Lost,
All of what you Have,
Nothing that you Want,
And nothing you couldn’t Take-
I decide in Death what Lives-
What am I for Eternity?
