Family Matters

Family is best kept away.
It's the only way to appreciate them.
To love them.
To be happy to see them.
To hug them and to kiss them.
To miss them and to see them.

The happiness bubbles, the smiles grow,
The hugs drown you in joy and in sorrow.
But no.
Not when they're near. Not when they're here.
You take them for granted.
And when they're gone, you're broken-hearted.
You never really saw them.
Your own selfishness and anger kept a veil between you and reality.
You never really knew they were there.
Your absorbment in your own life stood like a brick wall separating you from their love.
Never really saw that they were there all along.
And now where are they when you want to tell them you were wrong?
Gone.
