Collision

Brother against brother,
Fighting for what they know;
He cannot live without,
The other cannot thrive among.

Oh brother, can't you see?
Without his work, I would be no wealthy man?
Oh good brother, don't you know?
Without his work, it would just be my own two hands?

But see now, brother;
He is human, he be man;
He’s like us,
No worse, nor better than.

Roses blooming on one's chest,
The death of one brother, someone's lover, a man.
The earth bleeds,
Beneath this brother,

A gaping wound,
Inflicted by the other,
Because of how he believes,
Because of all he knows.

You must know now, brother,
He and I are too different,
I am above him, I be clouds,
While he is, brother, simply grounds.

But brother, could it be another way?
The other way around?
You below him, you be cotton he tends,
He is, brother, a soaring bird of prey?

Each reason is no good,
The statement of the other
Seems false to another,
So a different route is taken,

A worn and beaten path,
Well traveled before,
A path of pain,
A course of death, and blood, and strain;

Brother against brother,
In a ruthless fight,
Man against man,
For the freedom of another race.
