Self Inflicted Pain

The glint of a shining knife blade
Was all that I could see
As it slashed across my forearms
Cutting into me

I felt a tingle from the cut
As I pulled the blade away
And looked upon the damage
I had inflicted that day

I smelled the slight metallic scent
That comes from fresh, red blood
And my eyes were held unto that sight
Until they began to flood

I heard my sobs, loud but distant
As I sat on my kitchen floor
Thinking about how bad I was
For doing this once more

I tasted bile in my throat
As i swallowed a glass of water
And I dragged myself into my room
Glad the moment of weakness was over
