Circus

Look, can you hear the music, look and see
Please lets go, go to the circus with me!
Run to the big red tent and carts
Lets go see everything, the fireworks, the sparks!

Elephants from foreign lands and worlds
Look up at the dancer as she twists and twirls
The announcer in his coat and hat
Comes over where we stared and sat

He pointed to me with his pink umbrella
and asked "Are you ready for this young fella?"
Then suddenly I’m dragged to the center ring
He said "Ladies and Gentlemen Lets us begin!"

With a flash of light he disappeared in thin air
I stood alone in the center with a whip and a chair
Suddenly I heard screams and gasps
And I turned around, whip in hand, I clasped
A lion with teeth so sharp and white
Was running towards me with all his might
I ran away, terrified, loosing hope
Not knowing the lion was tied to a rope

"Now come on young one,” the announcer said
"Go up to his mouth and stick in your head!"
The crowd laughed as I came out of hiding
And walked over to where the creature was lying
Slowly I reached for his large shaggy head
But the lion rolled over on his back instead

"Ladies and Gentlemen" Said the announcer
"Welcome to Burks Blunders circus of wonder!"
And suddenly I was shuffled to my chair
While people appeared flying through the air
Clowns with red noses, Look! Chinese Twins!
A man swallows swords, a boy with two fins!
Zebras in tutu's, and a giant giraffe!
A man juggling fire, and a woman sawed in half!

I sat in awe as I ate my cotton candy
A smile on my face for I was so happy
The African elephant was coming up next
As I sat in anticipation, didn’t know what to expect
"Ladies and Gentlemen how do you do?"
"Now may you look to the corner of the room"
Then a drum roll, the corner shined
And I gazed on the elephant for the very first time
His nose so long, and body so gigantic
And over cam Theo the amazing fantastic!
The beast slowly balanced on top of a ball
As the crowd gasped thinking for sure he would fall
Then the beast made a noise so loud
And dumped some confetti into the crowd
My eyes grew wide with what I saw
And I joined and clapped with the crowds applause

"Ladies and Gentlemen thank you for coming"
I thought this cant be over, there’s more, something?
"I know its sad to part ways so tragic"
"But thank you youngsters for sharing the magic"

And with that he was gone, all was quiet
As we walked away dazed but excited
Tired exhausted for my day was so long
As I played my head down I could still hear the song
Listen can you hear it, listen and see
Please come dream, dream of the circus with me
