Forgiveness and Forgetfulness

Destiny departs on her merry way
Blowing her blessing softly from the palm of her hand
And while every day blossoms to something different
Our own choices make life easy or hard to understand.

Given the option of grudge or release
As a person, we choose to cling
To bear false witness, to place all the blame
On others whose misery is easy to bring.

Kissing a breath off to grant thee farewell
Leaving the only ones who care for you
Paucity of anything like mercy and grace
Sentence to death the love that once grew.

Holding a grudge, holding a knife
Not much of a difference when looked at metiphorically.
Both tear, both hurt, both are suicide
For pools of compassion are under aridity.

When taking a chance and letting it go
Comes back to slap you in the face
No matter who, they always choose
To not let this go, to show no grace

And even when charity and blessings are plenty
Advantage is taken of those who choose to be kind
And they are pushed down, barren of concern,
At loss of anyone whose gentleness to find.

Moral:
One of the things that makes letting go so hard
Is that holding on is so much easier.
Bearing grudges against one another is
Quite simply, easier than to say "I forgive you."
