She Sits and Waits

She sits
Staring out the old, dirty window into the night
"Baby, Why'd you go?"
she whispers to herself
A lonely tear runs down her cheek
She doesn't bother brushing it away
Knowing more will fall soon enough
With every breath she takes
her heart breaks a little more
She's been like this for far too long
Knowing you won't be coming back
Pulling her into your arms
Kissing her forehead and whispering softly "I've missed you"
She begins to sniffle now
Reaching towards the tissue box
Her hand skims the frame next to it
The last picture of you two together
Last winter
It was her favorite picture of you
She was grinning like a mad woman
While you were kissing her cheek
She looked away quickly
Returning her sight out the old, dirty window
She remembers everything
Though wishing she didn't
She remembered your smell
The way you use to say her name in that playful way
The way your lips tasted like cigarettes
Even though she hated that you smoked
she still loved that taste of your lips
She remembered how her body fit perfectly with yours
She shut her eyes tight
Wishing away the memories
Not wanting to think anymore
Sighing deeply she stood up
Walking outside
She slowly sat down in the moonlight
"Baby, why'd you do this to me?"
She whispered as she laid back and stared up at the stars
She tried slowing the tears
But they only came faster
She never meant to fall in love with you
I never meant to fall in love with you.
