Choice

It's definately a choice, that's what you say
I suppose I'll have to agree
Because I know that Lawrence King chose to be killed when he was still in middle school
He chose to be gunned down because he was gay
I know that all kids choose to be disowned by their parents
They make the choice to not have their parents be able to look them in the eye ever again
They choose to have people ridicule them, to make jokes
They choose to be sexual oriented where they are not allowed to get married
They choose to pretend to like the opposite sex, to do the thing they hate
And I know that they make the choice to sometimes hate themselves for not being "normal"
They all choose to have groups protesting their right to exist
They choose to have people all over their backs, telling them that they can change
I know that they all choose to be forced to hide in the shadows, knowing what will happen otherwise
They choose to have people arguing over books in libraries on the subject of homosexuality
They choose to be fired because of their gender expression
They choose to be stereotyped
They choose to be so different that people can't accept them
They choose to get so upset about their lives and the treatment they get, that they commit suicide
I know that they choose to be isolated

Yeah, right
It's not a choice
It's who they are
Do you ever hear them questioning us on why we chose to be straight?
Give it up
We're all people
It's time to start accepting others for who they are
It's a choice we CAN make
