Something About You

I promise you that
I am one of the saddest
People you’ll ever meet.
You just don’t see it.

I dare not share
My sorrows unless
In the confines of
The four walls
Which make my room.
There, the only witness
Is the occasional spider
And a stuffed animal or two
And they dare not tell.

Yet, with you
I don’t have to hide it,
I don’t have to worry about
You seeing the sadness
That shows through my eyes

Because with you
I find that it’s hard
To keep being sad.
You possess a brightness
Which frightens away
My darkest of sorrows

And so I cling to you
With a wild desperation
Which will be the very thing
To brings about my downfall,

And yet, I feel
That I have nothing
That I can lose.
Not a single thing
That holds any importance
Except, of course,
You.
