Realisation

There's this boy I know, come listen to my tale.
It's of a nature, I'm sure you all know.
Of a love gone kinda stale.
Confused about the world he's in and the life he's lead.
The family he loves but hates that awful fear of dread.
One day he met one fucked up girl, could she be just the same?
They laughed until the sun came up.
Friendship was the only game.
She had a girl, he longed for a boy.
They had it all worked out.
He protected her from everyone.
They barely had to shout.
It grew more and so did lies of the feelings he couldn't keep.
He felt trapped, she felt used.
They cried themselves to sleep.
He changed his looks, she changed her friends.
They both grew in different ways, but always had the fiercest bond together always in their seperate days.
He still feels now, to this very day.
He still has to explain they're "Just good friends"
He needs to realise that she already knows and she prays for that to end.
Our lad of the story, he aches to belong and to be held by the love of a boy.
What he never seems to realise though is that, she'd never strip him of that joy.
He'll set her free when he finds it, so she knows how it all ends.
Lying awake praying silently that her heart and her pain will mend.
So comes the end of this weird old tale of things not meant to be.
I wish I didn't know all this so well.
I'm afraid this poem is me.
