Stones of Time

Ancient, old stones
All aligned in perfection
Not a stone out of place

They watch time fly by
They watch as day turns to night
But to these stationery figures
Time moves ever so slowly
One year is but a minute

They’ve seen the beginning of Man, of life
And they will see the end.

Or maybe they’ll see the rebirth
The renewal of a people who were foolish
Foolish enough to bring about their own destruction.

And who’s to bring about this rebirth?

The one who dares to never say no
The one who continues to strive forward
The one who breaks away from the norm
In order to pursue their goal
One goal that will set them free
One goal that these ancient, old stones only know of
Because we all need a goal.

Ancient, old stones
Stones that began with time
And will also be gone with it
But who’s knowledge will be lost in the end.
