world in my eyes

I wish we didn't have to do everything for something.
Always preparing, always for something.
Why can't we just do things for the hell of it?
To have fun, to make friends,
Not just to write on a list.
It's such a messed up way of looking at the world,
To milk our interests for all that they're worth.
Why won't anyone see that it's crazy to try
To build yourself up to someone you hate,
To someone that will be accepted: "well rounded" and "involved"
What about perfecting who you already are?
what about doing what you want?
Do this, do that,
That’s right, that’s not
But whats behind it all?
Living on a schedule
I wish the world could stop spinning
We all could use a break
Those days in which I’ve lived
Seem to haunt me in my sleep
Crashing everything around here
Breaking broken glass
What good does it do to fix the unfixable?
This world is unfixable
It’s shady and it’s merciless
Right now a girl is raped
Today a man is murdered
By a child, by a father or a mother
We’re all going nowhere
Trying to make a difference
We try to fix the world
When really, the problem is in us
Nothing gets better
Nothing is solved
I wish the world could stop spinning
And we can all take a good look at ourselves
That's the best way to live out your days:
Enjoying your life and dreading nothing.
