Introduction to Pain

All members of the human race
Share in one struggle, one pain
We all have experienced inexplicable stress
And are bound together by one universal event -
Birth
Through pain we all enter this world

From the day that we have come into this world,
We start to sprint in this rugged race
Our minds and bodies - released through birth -
Forget both the joys and pain
Of that agonizing event
This is the lullaby between stress and stress

Infancy blooms to childhood’s rose-colored stress
A child sees an unadulterated world
Innocence taints every event
It is just a game of tag or a sack race
Their future will be charted by their degree of pain -
Those with the most will rival their strain of birth

When childhood dies a new life is given birth -
A time of growth and all-consuming stress
Each needle prick results in heightened pain
Strong emotions and erring logic color their world
So often running the popularity race
Living for the next big event

In time we find each event is just another event,
And we seek our destiny - laid out from our birth
We seek our place in the unending race
The tension is not so extreme - just the prolonged stress
Of trying to find one’s place in this world
Finally, we can know the real meaning of pain

As adults, we see all the forms of pain -
Pain from love, death, betrayal, abuse, or a disastrous event
We find a way to touch the world -
A way to make something of our birth
Leaving a legacy is the major source of stress
The finish line is in sight at the end of this race

Our world begins with pain
A difficult race leading up to one culminating event
At birth we get a glimpse of our final stress
