Crossroads

Turning east was Exclusive Relationship Road.
Turning west was Just Friends Road.
I was facing North,
Empty Life Road behind me.
Standing a few meters away directly across from me was him facing South,
Sad Life Road behind him.
We walked towards each other meeting half way.
Fait had decided we should walk our paths together,
so which road do we choose?
Shall we go east or west?
We looked east,
down Exclusive Relationship Road.
The roses by its footpath seemed brighter
and more blossomed than the first time we had faced this road all that time ago.
The roses hadn’t been luminescent before as they were now.
We looked west,
down Just Friends Road.
There,
not much had changed.
The yellow daisies by its footpath looked just as bright as they ever had.
We stole a few more glances of each road,
eventually resting our gazes on each other.
As I looked into his eyes I saw a glowing red.
The light from the roses was reflecting into his eyes.
He must have seen the same thing in my eyes too,
because at that moment we simultaneously turned our gazes back upon the roses.
A wind blew from the East.
Our noses had caught that glorious scent of the rose petals,
which the breeze had so faithfully carried.
As I reached for his hand and he reached for mine,
East we headed.
