On the Surface

With a smile on my face, the world disappears,
Would anyone know that my heart's full of fear?

After all that was said, you still think I'm fine,
But you never read the hurt that was clearly defined.

I wonder why you can only see what you choose,
You don't understand that there's so much left to lose.

So go ahead and look at the surface,
After all, there's really no puropse.

Once the laughter comes out, you think it's for real,
But you don't know how I really feel.

Continue to speak as if no one was wrong,
Continue to laugh like it's your beautiful song.

I'll sit here and pretend as if you knew my purpose,
Because all that's left is what's on the surface.
