what lies in the stars

You can’t, pretend that you don’t regret,
You can’t walk off with your tail between your legs
You can’t stop thinking what could’ve been,
You can’t turn away from what you have seen,
You can’t listen to people who say you’re wrong,
Because in the world, mistakes belong.

You can’t dis-believe because other people do,
You can’t think what it would be like in some-one else’s shoes,
You can’t imagine about dying, because life is too short,
You can’t help crying, because tears are precious, not simply bought,
You can’t worry about things that haven’t yet taken place,
Because concern and fret are big flaws in the human race.

You can’t really be unique, because everyone’s equal,
You can’t get second chances; there are no life sequels,
You can’t hate; life with bitterness isn’t healthy,
You can’t be greedy and wish you were wealthy,
You can’t get everything you desire for or want,
Because needs and requirements are far more important.

You can cry, laugh and be insane,
You can be happy and live life as a game,
You can hope for other people, do this regularly,
You can wish, trust, and believe perpetually,
You can be yourself and live life to the full,
Because what lies in the future is up to the stars, not you.
