The Garden of Eden

When time had just begun,
The earth had just been made, and all was good and new,
There was a beautiful garden, a bountiful garden,
A living garden covered in shining dew.

In the center of the garden
With nothing to guard it but God’s command,
There grew a twisting tree, a winding tree,
A twining tree more enchanted than all in the land.

Growing on this tree was the seed
That was used to destroy the immortality that mankind had,
That was a delicious fruit, a desirable fruit,
A forbidden fruit that held the knowledge of good and bad.

Beside the tree was a creature
Lying in wait to prey on the strong and weak:
A slithering, scavenging snake, a scheming snake,
A satanic snake that searched for havoc to wreak.

After the woman and man were enticed by the satanic snake
To eat the forbidden fruit from the twisting tree in the living garden,
God put upon them a punishing curse, a terrible curse,
A shameful curse that only Jesus could pardon.
