My Lullaby, My Farewell

My lullaby, my farewell.

I sang it to you, wishing you well.

You sleep very deep.

For a soul that's not so steep.

And when I said my goodbyes,

I tried so hard not to cry.

Just seeing you there, smiling in your sleep.

Made me want to lay next to you, calling your heart for keeps.

But, I had to leave. I only made things worse.

I had to make life better, because you were so hurt.

I was the cause of your pain.

But, now you will be washed,

By a cleansing rain.

Rinsed from your pain and sorrow.

But, I will not be here tomorrow.

My lullabye, my farewell.

I sang it to you, wishing you well.

Knowing I won't be able to see you again,

I kissed you once more, and then...

Left a rose at your side,

The thorns taken off, and a note inside

of an envelope.

It's contents little,

Saying "No more pain will develope,

For you ever again.

I took the thorns off of the rose,

Because I don't want to

Cause you any more pain.

I love you, and my reason is why,

I left this house, and is no longer by your side.

The pain I have caused, shall wash away over time.

I hope you will forget me, but keep this rose by your side.

You must burn the note, it is no use to you.

I don't want you to see, all the pain you've been through.

So, I say goodbye.

Goodbye, goodbye.

And, I sing to you...

My lullabye, my farewell.

I sang to you, wishing you well.
