T.L.M.

I wish I knew how to play the medic.
To find the cure for what you needed.
I let out a silent cry, as I heard your last goodbye.
Your words disintegrate into nothing but a ghost,
for that is what you’ve become.
All the times you’d tell me not to give up on what I wanted.
Come to think of it, all I wanted was you.
You ultimately gave up…
So, I’m not going to do that to you.
You could ask me for the world as it is now.
I’d hand it to you.
& take what’s left of you in my arms.
To think, years ago, you were given a heartbeat.
It was beating not too long ago.
Snap to past tense…
It had a beat.
Your pulse is now shot.
It’s all going through my head.
Can’t imagine what went through your head.
You’re gone.
But, always in my heart.

In loving memory of Todd Lee Mathews.
