What you can't see is more important than what you can

There's a door
Don't you dare open it
You can't see what's behind there
You wouldn't understand

You'd see too much
You can't know
What lurks in the darkness of my mind
my true self

You are allowed to see my fake smile
but you can't see that it doesn't reach my eyes
You are allowed to hear my hollow laugh
but you can't see how I'm struggling

You can see my make up covered eyes
Never will you see the tears that come nightly
and those three scars I rip open
remain hidden by clothing

So now you understand
oh wait no you don't
because you listened right?
You didn't open that door

You wouldn't understand
how I gave my heat away
but I'm in so much pain
I want to fade away

and lock myself behind that door
