Break Them Down So Badly

Screams echo through the house
China smash against the counter
Slapping hard across their face
He lets his anger out on them

Angry stomps are all you hear
Doors slam with force and might
Children hiding in their rooms
She never stops to think it through

They hide their faces in their pillow
Cry their eyes out every night
Daddy doesn’t want them
And Mommy doesn’t care

That odd, nasty smell
That always stains his clothes
The fumes of alcohol
Affects them more than he could know

Lines of white powder
Credit cards out of date
Sniff the substance up inside of her
Leave them all alone to die

They tell him they got good grades
He brushes them away
Catching his attention
Always came the fucked up way

They work hours on a drawing
And show it to their mom
She rips it into pieces
And it tears them up inside

No matter what they say
He’s never satisfied
No matter what they do
She doesn’t want to see their eyes

They lie awake every night
They carve their sorrows in the wall
Life dealt them the band hand
Can it be called a life at all?
