Stone Soldier

Their was once a man who could not die
he lived a life others dare not try
he loved the world and all its sounds
using every day to shift to new grounds
he had been in many wars and catastrophes
seen wondrous sights and monstrosities
the earth was his play thing, he had seen all of its sight
but his world was shaken, on this glorious night of nights
he was walking down the beach with a drink in his hand
when he saw a women laying peacefully in the sand
he approached her slowing thinking only of having fun
when she turned to him and said "sit down would you Hun"
shocked by her smile he started to talk
but before he could speak she ran to the dock
throwing clothes here and there she jumped right in
and swam around for a bit before calling to him
he was confused and amazed by her strangely, bold ways
but for the rest of time he would remember these days
they made love for hours before going to her place
and continued there, still quickening their pace
when they were finished she talked herself to sleep
and he knew right then he never found a woman so deep
he had fallen in love right from the moment in the sand
now only thinking of her as he drifted to wonderland
when he awoke he remembered the momentous night
but looking around she was nowhere in sight
he got up to look for his midnight lover
and saw a note in the mail and he read the cover
on the envelope he could plainly see the name wasnt hers
and as the door opened to show a man and wife, he was at a loss of words
the temptress had brought them into anothers house
and he had fallen for it, like a maze and a mouse
as he apologized and on the doorstep he stood
their in the daylight he finally understood
he had fallen for someone just like himself
and now he could love nobody else
so he went back to the beach where his lover had laid
and he slit his throat under the palm trees shade
the soldier was immortal so he did not die
but the scar remained as a reminder of why
he could never fall for another so sly
because in the end he was dead inside
