Silences
An empty stare
A silent fall
Not a sound
No movement at all
Quietly a tear falls
When everyone has gone by
Every part of this sorry life
Gone wrong, way, oh even awry
The silence leaves now
Being replaced by racking sobs
The silent tears gone
As a young body flops
Knowing but then not
The distance in the coming years
Of which friends do meet
And then only happy tears
If someone else takes all of our steps
Then we will never grow
If we live life and do not hurt
Then we will never know
That instead of a sob
A laugh loud and bright
Can fill the empty silences
When you leave, Graduation Night
A silent fall
Not a sound
No movement at all
Quietly a tear falls
When everyone has gone by
Every part of this sorry life
Gone wrong, way, oh even awry
The silence leaves now
Being replaced by racking sobs
The silent tears gone
As a young body flops
Knowing but then not
The distance in the coming years
Of which friends do meet
And then only happy tears
If someone else takes all of our steps
Then we will never grow
If we live life and do not hurt
Then we will never know
That instead of a sob
A laugh loud and bright
Can fill the empty silences
When you leave, Graduation Night
