moonlit dance

Dancing here in the moonlight feeling so lonely,
Won’t you come and dance beside me?
I think of you every time I sway.
And when I jump for you I pray.
And looking out the window there is nothing there,
Won’t you please just come home so I can see you care?
Dancing in the moonlight the sun it soon shall rise,
If you were here it wouldn’t be such a big surprise.
Upon the mantelpiece just beside the lamp,
That’s the clock you gave to me when winter gave us damp.
And there beside the window there is you and me,
Smiling at the camera like there is nothing else to see.
Can’t you come home and see me dance?
Can’t you come home, a leap or a prance?
And when I finally go to bed,
There’s only you inside my head.
And I know that 20 years you have been dead.
