Songbird

My heart has broken in two
And I know I'll never see you again
But I know I can't get over you
I'll never love anyone again

I go to the garden to sit and cry
When I hear a faint song
I could've mistaken it for a lullaby
I go and see what's going on

And Lo', what a sight I see
There on the garden shed
A singing songbird with wings of foaming sea
I believe she used the shed for a bed

Though I can't speak bird
I understand her words
Such comforting words ever heard
For her words remind me of you

My tears are dry and no longer
All thoughts of you are gone
I am ready for the future yonder
I sleep with thoughts of the songbird's song
