Too Old To Cry

Putting on a happy face, following their lead
They’re doing this for their own selfish needs
She misses her aunt, aint seen her in years
Her mum refuses to go, her own selfish fears

Dad says ‘go alone’ but she doesn’t want to
It means facing up to what is true
Her family is slowly falling apart
Hates admitting it, but knows it in her heart

Tears start at the end of the day
Sniffing she fiercely wipes them away
She’s too old to cry, should know better
So instead she sits and writes them a letter

‘I’m sorry I just can’t do this anymore
You’re too busy with your life to have realised before
The happy face, is not what’s inside
Don’t want to hurt you, I had to hide’

‘I’m sorry I can’t be the daughter you need
I’m sorry I can’t stay just to hurt and bleed
So mum and dad, my time is nigh
I’m so sorry, I have to say goodbye’

Her parents find her hanging from a rope
See she is dead and lose all hope
Her mother breaks down in helpless tears
How could this happen, she was so near

This girl was smart, could have lived well
Instead she thought her life was hell
She never saw, if only she could
Have looked at her life and see what was good

Everyone learned a lesson that fateful day
With the memories that will never fade away
You will always be too young to die
But you are never, ever too old to cry
