The Cross

I don't understand what he did wrong
This man pure and good
He shouldn't have been put to death
He should've lived lived like men should

When questioned, he remained still and calm
When whipped, he stood his ground
My mama closed my eyes and ears
Though I heard of the unhappy sound

He was to carry a heavy cross
And do you know what I saw
Sins of me and of the world
Then seeing him hurt even more

I realised who he was
Tears blurred and stung my eyes
He was doing this to save us all
To do this, he had to die

I watched him on the cross crying
Tears of saddness and joy
Saddness, for I love him with all my heart
But he WANTS my eternal joy
