What if We're Not What They Want us to be?

Mommy wants her Baby
to grow up pretty.
Wear lovely dresses
and find success in the city.

Mommy wants grandchildren
when Baby marries a nice boy.
Make her heart smile,
Fill her with joy.

But what happens if
Baby's no princess?
If she loves a girl,
Will mommy find distress?

Daddy wants his boy
to grow up strong,
To run and play football,
and hopes it won't be long...

Before Boys under a tree,
Wearing a suit,
Next to a gorgeous girl,
Marrying at it's root.

But what happens if
Boy sings a different song?
He wants to hold a boy's hand,
Is that so wrong?

They've built expectations
since we've slept in a cot.
But, shouldn't they love us,
No matter what?
