Too Deep

A glimmer of hope
Upon a blade.
Just one touch,
And all pain is erased.

The relief of life,
Passes through the skin,
Like a river of peace,
Calming the beast within.

Every scar a badge
Under long sleeves.
Worn as shame.
No one believes.

But one day the blade
Cannot save.
The last spec of sanity,
In the human remains.

You cut too deep;
The crimson rain.
And fail to keep
Your eyes ablaze.
