The Fratellis - Costello Music

The Fratellis - Costello Music Costello Music. It's an amazing album by a delightful Scottish band called The Fratellis. Costello Music was first released on the 11th of September in 2006 in the UK. It only made its way to Australia on the 13th of January 2007.

I remember being all excited that it was finally making it to Australia. I'd previously heard only one of The Fratellis singles, Chelsea Dagger, on Triple J (non commercial Aussie radio station) and it had me instantly hooked. Unwrapping the album from it's plastic coating, opening it and putting the CD into the player I wasn't expecting all of the songs to be as catchy as their single. Generally singles are the best songs on the album, I thought.

I pressed the Play button and waited. An insanely cheerful guitar riff started. That song was called Henrietta, I read off the case. I smiled. That song was amazing - is amazing. It's so catchy, so boppy, so... Addictable. I listened on.

One after another each song played, all twelve songs (plus the thirteenth track not listed on the case) were as catchy and boppy and just as amazing as the first track. It's not often that every single song you get on an album is as good as the last.

The insanely happy guitar riffs mixed with the Fratellis adorable Scottish accents are what makes this album. I've never heard another album like it. Every song will have you singing along, tapping your toes and perhaps even dancing around the room.

The songs I like best? If I could list the whole album I would, but in an attempt to narrow it down I'll have to say Henrietta, Whistle For The Choir, For The Girl, Chelsea Dagger and Creepin' Up The Backstairs.

I definitely recommend actually going out and buying this album. Don't be a cheapskate and download it. The Fratellis deserve much better for creating an album which can bring such happiness into listeners minds.
