Cansei De Ser Sexy - Donkey

If you don't know them they are the band that sings Music Is My Hot Hot Sex, you know, that song from the iPod Touch commercial back in the beginning of the year. They really are an amazing band, they are so different from everyone out there. They are from Brazil so they sing a lot of cool lyrics in Portuguese too.

They came out with their first album in 2006, entitled 'Cansei De Ser Sexy,' in Portuguese meaning 'Tired of Being Sexy,' and it and amazing album, full of amazing beats that you just have to get up and dance to. I fell in love with that album because it was just so amazing and so different from everything else.

They cursed a lot but it was fun and upbeat and definitely hilarious so it was good.

Now here we have their new album, Donkey, which was just recently leaked onto their Myspace page. I listened to the whole album about three times and I just have to say that I am so disappointed.

What happened to all those beats? Those quirky jokes in the lyrics? They gave us a preview with Rat is Dead (Rage) and when I heard that song I was excited. But now, after listening, I'm just not.

I feel each song sounds too much the same. On their debut album, 'Cansei De Ser Sexy,' everything was different, but it all worked well together. This album is full of about ten songs that sound exactly the same and three songs really showing who CSS is.

Patrick Stump even said once in an interview for Rolling Stone last year, “The CSS record is fucking awesome! Seven hot Brazilian chicks singing hilarious dance music”.

Well Patrick, there aren't seven girls in there... There's a guy too, but hey, at least you tried. Really, where did that go? Those hilarious songs that we can dance too. I can request three songs besides Rat is Dead solely on their beats - 'Let's Reggae All Night', 'Left Behind' and 'Believe Achieve'. Lovefoxxx, your voice is still so amazing but I want to hear it shouting those fun lyrics.

Would you rather have a song entitled 'Art Bitch' or a song about a fly? I'm sorry CSS, I just don't know what happened this time around. I'd give 'Donkey' a 6/10.
