The Fray - How to Save A Life
I don't know of a single person who hasn't heard the song How to Save a Life. It's played on the radio even now, after it's been overplayed way too much. I sort of resent the radio DJ's for doing that.
But there are so many more great songs on the album, like Vienna, a truly beautiful song that has some of the most well-thought out lyrics I've ever heard. There is one song on the record that really breaks my heart. The music itself is packed with emotion, but when the singer starts in, it almost brings tears.
Dead Wrong is a bitter song that we can all identify with about dreams blowing up in our faces. It's probably the one I identify with the most.
Over My Head (Cable Car) is really good, because it captures some of the frustration we feel going through life. But like all of their songs, it also explores the beauty of the everyday. This song clearly demonstrates The Fray's insight and ability to identify with their emotions.
Every song carries some amount of pain in it, but there is also hope.
I would like to meet the artists in person, because they seem like people that are able to see the extraordinary in the ordinary.
