High School Musical 3: Senior Year Soundtrack

High School Musical 3: Senior Year Soundtrack The Disney musical High School Musical 3: Senior Year has an amazing soundtrack that has definitely blown the other two soundtracks of the previous movies out of the water.

The first track, “Now or Never”, sets the mood off as intense, paving the way to a very upbeat soundtrack that combines a number of different musical genres, all originating with a pop base. The song has a beat that makes you want to jump up and dance, or play basketball. It’s an energetic way to begin a soundtrack, leading the way to songs with titles such as “Just Wanna Be With You” and “The Boys Are Back”.

The tone of the soundtrack takes on some more mature themes than the other two; with songs about indecision about a future after high school and wanting to be with the one you love. The duets with Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, like “Right Here, Right Now” and “Can I Have This Dance” are heartfelt and bring a longing feeling of high school romance towards them.

The upbeat songs such as “I Want It All” tell of those who know what they want after high school, showing the different thoughts of different characters on the soundtrack. The song features lyrics about a glamorized version of fame, about wanting everything and more. Another upbeat song, “A Night to Remember”, themed about Prom night, is about a girl’s attitude towards prom versus a boy’s attitude towards “the” night. It’s a very comedic, yet sort of truthful, dance number.

The soundtrack also features solos from Vanessa Hudgens (“Walk Away”) and Zac Efron (“Scream”). It also features all of the songs from the East High Spring Musical, Senior Year, compiled onto one track, “Senior Year Spring Musical”.

The album finishes with the song “High School Musical”, a song about leaving high school but always remembering it. With lyrics like, “Step into the future... but hold on to / High School Musical,” the song reminds us that we’ll never forget our high school years even as we move forward in our lives.

A roller coaster ride of beats and emotion, I’d have to say that this soundtrack provides a good 51 minutes of fun to listen to. Definite congratulations to the writers for bringing together and creating a more grown-up soundtrack than the previous ones.
