Minus IQ - Home Cinema

Minus IQ - Home Cinema It’s the 24th April 2009, around 12am, and I have just got back from my fourth Minus IQ gig. And in my hand, I have a copy of something very special I have been waiting for since 2007.

A signed limited pre-edition of their album, Home Cinema.

Upon listening, my ears are welcomed with the familiar drum roll that is the intro to their hit song ‘Shoot First’ which has a catchy chorus that will stick in your mind. The song was originally on their ‘The Southway Sessions’ EP, and is one to get the crowds dancing at their gigs. if you think this track is amazing, your eardrums will combust with the phenomenal tracks awaiting you.

Listening through the album, one of the main tracks that attracts my attention: On The Rocks, a song I have only heard live versions of, and a 50 second sample. I have always thought this song was amazing live, but it will blow you away same with tracks Emotion In Motion and Target.

The main track that stood out for me was Over Exposure - a track I had never heard before, and now one I can’t help but have on repeat. The song has a catchy rift, a captivating rhythm, and lyrics that everyone can relate to. This is the main song on the album which makes me want to jump and dance around whilst singing the lyrics as loud as I can, which isn’t a bad thing.

Another track that stood out for me was Target. This song is quite slow, but not too slow. Its one of those songs I can have on repeat, and not get sick of. The lyrics to this song are beautiful, and some that everyone could relate to - the uncontrollable feelings when you like someone.

Home Cinema will take you through a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but one you can enjoy, without vomiting at the end. For me, every song I could relate to depending on the mood I’m in, whether it's ‘Tale From The Other Side Of Town’ to ‘False Smiles;’ Home Cinema is the soundtrack to my life.

This album is like nothing I have heard before, and nothing like I will hear for a long time. Minus IQ are an unique sounding band, with amazing talent on and off the stage. This is the bands long awaited debut album, and I have to say its worth the two year wait.

So, if I was you, I’d head over to iTunes, and download the album, or even after the 4th May, check out your local store and buy this album, because Minus IQ are the band that are going to change your life.
