Attack! Attack!

Attack! Attack! Attack! Attack! has come a long way in the last five years with the switch of several band members, their style changing, etc. By the release of their second album, the self-titled Attack! Attack!, the band had enough drama to write their own soap opera under their belt. In 2008 after the departure of Austin Carlile for which some parties are still wondering was voluntarily the band went on a search for a vocalist.

They picked up Caleb Shomo, and later on John Holgado, after their last vocalist left Caleb would step into take over vocals and the band begin to tour. The recording and release of their self titled album officially to be out on June 8, 2010 is what I am going to be reviewing now.

Track one which is entitled Sexual Man Chocolate contains an upbeat piano beginning and a guitar riff. Screaming drops in the very start followed by a clean vocal, the style of this song leaves nothing to the imagination and is very well executed.

“Now I see that this is what you mean
When you said you'd be my everything”

The lyrics leaves one wondering if their was a scorned relationship behind it. The quality of the chorus leads me to think that the person(s) involved could have perhaps be having a talk and there they realize that maybe they aren’t meant for each other? Who knows.

Track three which is entitled I Swear I'll Change starts with a melodic line, and continues into a wonderful drum cadence. Andrew Wetzel proves once again he’s a talented drummer. The vocalist's beautiful harmonies are edged with the screams, and a heavy guitar. This, in my opinion, is a perfect combination to keep listeners interested and in the upbeat state of mind. Keep in mind this band is known for their great gutturals.

Track six, entitled Smokahontas, now I am not quite sure what they meant by the title anyone else have opinions on this? However, in my opinion, this is one of the best songs on the album. The first verse starts with deep screams, and a synth beat that would make Michael Jackson jump from his grave to dance (that’s too early isn’t it… whoops.)

“Show me the way allow me to see cause my heart is broken
Be my escape allow me to hear with a word unspoken
Oh I am separated from the one I was made to love”

This song, ladies and gentleman, is about a girl or boy. I am sure we can all relate somehow. Please pick up this CD when it comes out. I am going to go ahead and do the best songs on the CD in my opinion together they are titled Turbo Swag & Lonely respectively.

Again Turbo Swag begins with a synth beat, and Wetzel pounding on the drums. Lonely is a melodic filled harmony in which Caleb proves his vocal talents.

In entirety this album is one of my picks for 2010. I never thought I would pick up a CD by Attack! Attack!, but I am glad that I did. Please go out on June 8, 2010 and buy this CD. Support the bands you love.
