Mylo Xyloto - Coldplay

The Coldplay album Mylo Xyloto was released worldwide on 24th October 2011. Coldplay to me means new meaning to life, songs that portray living life to its fullest. So naturally I was looking forwrd to the release of this fifth studio album of theirs, especially after the superb lead single precseding its release - Every Teardrop is a Waterfall - released on 3rd June,2011.

Every Teardrop is a Waterfall

This is one of the most cheerful Coldplay songs ever as it is so full of life and enjoyable. I was offended after seeing a very negative review of the songs. Very personally speaking I believe the lyrics could have been better, but they were definitely not worthy of being nominated for the cheesiest lyrics on an extremely popular lyrics website. All in all it was a cheery song, but pretty mediocre compared to Coldplay's usually very high standards.

Paradise

On this Coldplay album my favorite song was undoubtedly Paradise as it had the best, most heart-touching song that I beleive Coldplay have ever written. It is a beautiful song and perhaps the only one matching Coldplay standards in this album. The video is worthy of some great awards and I am sure will get some good accolades. On the whole, an amazing song - and in broadest sense of the word - a true Coldplay song.

Princess of China

This was the single that I was most looking forward to, and also the song that dissappointed me the most. I was expecting a complete Coldplay song, and in which Rihanna would try a new genre and impress upon us, but it so turned out that Coldplay decided to go the Rihanna way. I would best describe this song as a failed pop-RnB attempt by Coldplay. Personally, I would like to believe that pop just is not Coldplay's cup of tea and should stick to their quintessential yet unique style of music-making.

Charlie Brown

Now, this is what I call a REAL Coldplay song! I like this song so much, it is surely worth a mention of appreciation. The solo part of Chris Martin is as amazing as the guy ever was and this song really made me end up with a good impression of this album. Especially after the dissappontment of Princess of China. But the lyrics could still have improved, been way better.

Final Verdict...

A good album nonetheless containing quite a few glitches. I'd rate it three and a half stars out of five!
