No Darkness on Springsteen's Career

At 62, Bruce Springsteen is still producing number one records. The thirteen track record, Wrecking Ball, was the first to break Adele’s long reining, Album of the Year winning record, 21. He managed to climb his way right to the number one spot with his songs yet again.

Many of the songs are catchy and upbeat, but a few have a mysterious beginning and are slow. Springsteen has had some very meaningful songs, and very popular ones, on each album and it seems nothing has changed with this release. A few of his songs have a deeper meaning. Bruce Springsteen had an Irish feel to two of his songs, bringing his family history into some of his music.

Wrecking Ball has a modern feel to it, but still characterizes who Bruce Springsteen is and where he’s from. Shackled and Drawn caught my attention along with We Are Alive. Both have a different feel to it, but are captivating. Shackled and Drawn has soul, country, yelps, and spirited marches but is still upbeat and captivates the record’s theme. We Are Alive is about people who have died fighting for what they believe in or for a better life, and although they are dead, their spirits and stories still live on.

Wrecking Ball may have reached number one for the millions of Springsteen fans all buying this record on the same day, but it has a powerful theme. One that truly inspires people. Its records, like this particular one, that gives motivation and purpose to the listeners.
