"Believe" by Justin Bieber May Make Non-Believers Do Just That.

Hearing hype from Justin Bieber since middle school (which was four years ago.) I was ready to pull my hair out because of him for awhile, what with his high pitched singing voice and weak lyrics such as "Baby baby baby oh and I'm like baby baby baby oh." But with his new album, Believe, my mind has been changed and I have a totally new found opinion of him.

Three years of life and experiences since his debut album My World, which carried tunes like Baby, One Less Lonely Girl, and Somebody to Love, he has dropped a far more mature and lyrically stronger album that has many people changing their opinion on the Biebs.

What's also interesting to notice is within the new album, you can see that primary credit for the lyrics goes to Bieber himself, while on the other albums his name was very close to last. Could we just now be seeing who Justin Bieber truly is as opposed to him just singing generic and cheaply written songs that may have just been slung at him because he was a newbie?

Another factor to consider in what makes this album so much better is the fact that Justin Bieber's voice has advanced and gotten what one could call a more "bearable" sound opposed to the higher pitched voice we were used to from the Biebs. Features from artists Ludacris, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean, and Drake who are all top of the chart artists can't hurt either, right?

Let's look at a breakdown of the album song by song.

All Around The World - 4/5.

The first song on the album is very upbeat and dancy, it has you bobbing your head and maybe dancing in your chair some, whether you'll admit it or not. This song could very easily be played in a club somewhere, the beat is pulsing and strong. This song also features Ludacris, who isn't a rookie when it comes to being featured on a Justin Bieber song. Getting some of his "street cred" knocked after singing with the Biebs the first time around, he may just get it back after this track. Overall, it's a very catchy song that you'll probably find yourself singing along to whether you want to or not.

Boyfriend - 4/5.

Boyfriend, which was composed by the Biebs and Cooler Than Me singer Mike Posner is a hot track that really got me excited for Believe when I first heard it dropped as a single. The first bit is of what could possibly be considered rapping with and really surprised me. Justin Bieber sounding finally sounding like an 18 year old rather than a 13 year old? This was something I had to continue to listen to. It's a good, poppy song that sounds like something Chris Brown would spit out rather than the Biebs. Once you listen to this song, it'll get stuck in your head and you'll find yourself serenading people around you with the chorus.

As Long As You Love Me - 5/5

Quite possibly a personal all time favorite off of the album, As Long As You Love Me has me itching to download this from iTunes. This track is also just as dancy and club qualified as the first track. What really is a nice sound on this one is the dubstep feel that the whole track has, which seems to be really hot on the music scene right now. It also features Big Sean (Dance (A$$) who adds a nice touch with corny yet likable lyrics such as "Us, trust, a couple things I can't spell without u." and "Ask me what's my best side, I stand back and point at you, you, you the one I argue with I feel like a I need a new girl to be bothered, but the grass ain't always greener on the other side, it's green where you water it so I know we got issues baby true, true, true but I'd rather work on this with you than go ahead and start with someone new as long as you love me." Overall, it could easily be said that this is one of the best tracks off of the album in my own opinion

Catching Feelings - 3/5

This tune slows it down and isntead of a club packing, party tune it's an R&B sounding tune full of the Biebs' own emotion. Overall the lyrics are adorable with "We were best friends since we were this high, so why do I get nervous every time you walk by, we would be on the phone all day, now I can't find the words to say to you, now what am I supposed to be." and "Cause I'm made for you, and you for me, Baby now it's time for us, trying to keep it all together, but enough is enough, they say we're too young for love, but I'm catching feelings." Lyrics make this song relatable to many people who have fallen in love with their best friend and / or been told that because you're young, you don't know what love is.

Take You - 4/5

This tune is incredibly smooth and has again a dubstep-like feeling to it. The lyrics, though, remind me of (again) Chris Brown or someone in that department who wants to brag about all of the things he can do for you and actually tries to be sexy (it kind of works) - "I can take you up, I can take you home, I can take you oh-oh-oh where you wanna go, I can pick it up, I can take it slow, I can take you home, I can take you oh-oh-oh where you wanna go, I can pick it up, we can take it slow, I can take it home." When I first heard this song, I was surprised. Our little cute adorable Justin Bieber who sang about puppy love is taking it up a notch and being sexy? I approve!

Right Here - 4/5

Without Drake featured on this track, this song probably only would have gotten a 3 or a 3.5 at the most. Bieber and Drake's voices melt together and just wrap around you like a fuzzy blanket while they assure you, they aren't going anywhere and they're here to stay. It's very smooth and easy to listen to, for sure! While it isn't suited for the club exactly, I would say that some people could probably get it on to this song if that's what tickled their fancy. It's that kind of smooth and well paced!

Fall - 3/5

This is what some would call Justin taking it back to the My World sound with sugary sweet lyrics and higher pitched singing. Upon hearing it, because it was like his older stuff that I wasn't a fan of I cringed somewhat but, I still couldn't help but like it just because the lyrics are adorable and sweet all the while still bearable without putting me in a sugar coma.

Die In Your Arms - 2/5

Easily one of the weakest tracks on the album - the lyrics aren't that original or catchy and the beat is an R&B sound which doesn't help it any at all. His voice is also similar to what everyone moaned about before and seems to have lost that deeper, sexier pitch that can be heard on Take You and Boyfriend.

Thought of You - 3/5

Similar to the last two tracks, sounding like the Bieber all of the Beliebers "missed." It's better than the other two tracks, and at one point while hitting a high note sounds like his mentor Usher, and is an incredibly relatable song. We all fall in love with the thought of someone as opposed to who they really are. Overall an alright song, but I want the sexy Justin back.

Beauty and a Beat - 4.5/5

Sexy Justin is back! And he comes back with queen of rap Nicki Minaj. This tune is incredibly catchy with the slick, smooth Justin you hear on other tracks on the album. Again we've got the touch of dubstep and a very upbeat feeling to it. I'd say it's one of the better songs on the album and could easily creep up and threaten to take hold of my favorite.

One Love - 3.5/5

There's a combonation of the Justins in this one! At some points we have the high pitched, almost cringe worthy high notes and then we have the smooth, sexy notes at other points. It's a pretty good combonation. But for a third time, Chris Brown is coming to mind when I hear this one. Which makes me shake my head a little bit considering I'm not that big of a Chris Brown fan, but then again, he's got some pretty catchy and smooth tunes. Looks like the Biebs is going to follow in his footsteps, which isn't necessarily a bad thing!

Be Alright - 4/5

This song will pretty much pull at your heartstrings if you've ever been in a long distance relationship. One could assume that this song was written for Selena Gomez, his girlfriend, as a way to tell her no matter how far apart they are, everything will be fine. It's a sweet song that's stripped down to just Justin's voice and a guitar. It's very nice and soothing, one could easily find themselves listening to this at night to get some sleep.

Believe - 5/5

The closing track on the ablum actually has reduced me to tears - not like a total sobfest or anything, but tears were shed. It's a very emotional and powerful song that you can tell truly comes from Justin's heart. One can really feel how thankful Justin is for everything that's been given to him through this song, and the listener can feel as if they really know him in those few minutes and lyrics. It's a very beautiful song, a great way to close a great album.

Overall Score - 48 / 65.

Personally, I have been converted from being a Mellow Fellow to a Belieber through this album. It shows a whole different side of Justin Bieber and is truly a great album, even if he does sound like a squeaky clean version of Chris Brown at some points. I wold definitely recommend this album to people whether they're a fan or not, because their opinion of The Biebs will probaby change a little, if not completely.
