Setting Circles: Going Home

So we've all been waiting since the beginning of the year for the Devon boys to get their act together and that patience has finally paid off. “Going Home” is the first official single to be released off of the upcoming EP Capella and the fans are most definitely in for a treat.

Upon purchase, the single comes with both the studio version and an acoustic version of “Going Home” as well as a B-Side “Reach.” If this is an appetiser of what's to come on the upcoming EP, we're most definitely looking forward to the main course! This single is a reflection of the hard work and passion for music the boys have put into their EP.

The studio version of “Going Home” seems almost unrecognisable from the song the four boys anxiously introduced at their first gig a year ago. The intro has been given some extra spice with some rhythm and lead guitar. Also introduced is a bridge that wasn't there before, which gives the song some more meat on the bone as well as keeping that powerful chorus from becoming too repetitive. Beautiful, melodic and easy-listening, this is a track that will stay with you long after you've finished hitting replay. Just as pleasing are the two acoustic tracks released with the EP – gentle and warming to listen to. The acoustic of “Going Home” gives the track a new sound but still keeping that melodic feel – a perfect track for chilling out to. The B-side “Reach” is that song that gets all the couples slow-dancing. All four band members contributed to the loving lyrics that make us all want to vomit from a cute overdose. Also featured in this B-side is guest vocals from Nath Hallet. Hallet harmonises beautifully alongside Jamie Beard, giving some more depth to the vocals.

As well as the tracks, the single comes with simple but striking artwork. The boys have confessed the story behind the artwork for the single is that the song is dedicated to the troops currently in Afghanistan – a percentage of the profits made from the track even go to the Help For Heroes charity.

“Going Home” is available for purchase from BandCamp, iTunes and Spotify now! Do it and you won't regret it.
