Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing

Avril Lavigne - The Best Damn Thing The Best Damn Thing, the newest and the third album from Avril Lavigne amazed me, as all of her albums have.

If you have listened to all three of her albums, and looked at photos in between the times they were released, you would probably notice differences in them. Well, this album was (to me) different from her other albums, Let Go and Under My Skin, as it had a far more rebellious side to it. Being a great fan of Avril and her work, when I heard about the album and that it was to be released in April '07, I was definitely ecstatic about it. I had been waiting for a long time for something new from her, and this was definitely a surprise.

To me, the songs on the CD show Avril's "I'm-not-gonna-take-your-shit" side. It also suits others who dislike the girlfriend of the guy they fancy (Girlfriend), or that they want anything back but him (Everything Back But You). Anyone who thinks that this album is the worst by her is sadly mistaken, or that she was better as a "punk" or a "tomboy." Let's face it, everyone, we all change over a matter of time. No one stays the same forever. That is, unless you freeze them for over 10,000 years. But, hey, no one can do that. You're bound to die at some point while frozen in there.

Sonia D'Aloisio, Robb Dipple, John Rummen, Deryck Whibley (Avril's husband), and Mark Liddell all had obviously worked hard to make the photography and everything on the CD/booklet/etc. and should be very proud of it. Everything is so vibrant and colorful (well, it's mostly a slightly dull shade of hot pink, but it still does look quite attractive); it is all truly magnificent.

My favorite song off of the album, after I listened to it the moment I got home after purchasing it in April of 2007, has to be a tie between "Runaway" and "I Don't Have To Try". The songs "When You're Gone" and "Keep Holding On" honestly did bring me to tears, as much of a pansy as I probably sound for that.

It's solo artists like Avril Lavigne that keep the world spinning.
