Ever After - Marianas Trench's Third Album

The album Ever After has a story behind it and in the CD booklet the story is written and there are certain songs that go with the part of the album. The story behind the album is very fairytalesque, hence the name Ever After. Ever After is about a man who sees a king who has been taken over by the evil queen Carolina. Carolina has stole Porcelain’s heart and puts her heart in a box. The album revolves around taking down the evil queen.

The album starts off with a song entitled "Ever After" and that song alone lasts about six minutes. This song is the opening of the story and sets the theme for the entire album. The track introduces the character of Porcelain and the line “face the music when it’s dire” also appears. “Face the Music” is the name of the tour Marianas Trench is currently on.

This album is constructed in a way in which anyone can enjoy. There are songs that are more emotional such as: "Porcelain", "By Now" and "So Soon". Then there are songs that are all about the fun and the energy such as: "Haven’t Had Enough" and "Desperate Measures". Some of the other songs are a little in-between those two feelings. The songs on the album do a perfect job of telling the story that was created for this album.

Ever After has not even been out for a year yet and it has already gone platinum. This goes to show how amazing the CD actually is. This is their third and most unique album by far. Some people may say that their tone and direction is changing, but I would have to completely disagree with that. I think that Marianas Trench is just expanding their repertoire and extending their musical capabilities.

Josh Ramsay once said that he felt as though they had a Queen feeling to their album and I couldn’t agree more. Marianas Trench has a Queen feel to their music and their style is similar, but by no means are they copying them.

Ever After is much more than an album; it’s a piece of art.
