Panic At The Disco's Pretty. Odd.

Panic At The Disco's Pretty. Odd. I got my copy of Pretty. Odd. yesterday. I've been waiting so long for this. I waited all the way 'till the 25th to hear it instead of listen to it on the Internet. And these are my thoughts on the album.

Where do I start? Well they definitely didn't make the same record again. Yes, it's very different then a "Fever" but, I like it. The thing that always drawn me to Panic At The Disco is that they were different. They made music that they liked to play and enjoy, they didn't make music for record sells or see how many friends they can get on MySpace, they did it for their love for music, and I absolutely love that in a band.

So the very first song "We're So Starving", I liked it because it was saying "I know we were gone for so long but we're back". It got you excited to hear the rest of the record.

Then "Nine In The Afternoon" came on, I've liked that song ever since I saw the video of it on Youtube. My favorite lyric in that song would have to be "Back to the street down to our feet, losing the feeling of feeling unique". The horns and instrumental parts in the end I really like. It fits the song well.

"She's A Handsome Woman" the third song is another great song, I really love the chorus, "Go on, grab your hat and fetch a camera. Go on, film the world before it happens". I also love in the beginning of the song the "Gooooo On!" I like that a lot.

The forth song "Do You Know What I'm Seeing" is a simple song with simple lyrics, and I like it, I love "I know it's mad, but if I go to hell would you come with me? Or just leave?".

"That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)" the fifth song, is awesome, I love the chorus and the lyrics "Things have changed for me, and that's okay. I feel the same, I'm on my way". You can just tell how things have changed for Panic. With their first album they were kinda just thrown into this, and they kind of got the cold shoulder from the family and stuff so that's was kind of a down time for them and that's where the songs came from and now since they've been in this for a while all these songs are coming from a happy place and you can tell.

"I Have Friends In Holy Spaces" the sixth song on the album. Definitely different, but it's a song I would listen to any day because it puts a smile on my face. I love it; the very end the melody in the background with the light singing then it goes in to "Northern Downpour." Now this song is one of my favorites off the album, yes I did freak out when the "Sugarcane in the easy morning. Weathervanes my one and lonely" came on cause that's the first time I really heard Ryan on the record. And he has an awesome voice, I love after the first chorus the drums comes in and it picks up. That's my favorite part.

"When The Day Met The Night" another amazing song. What's funny is during the summer I remember seeing videos when they played this at festivals and I always thought it was called In The Middle Of Summer, so I was totally bummed when I didn't see it on the back, but when it came on I was like "It's on here!!!" I really like this song. "Pas De Cheval" the ninth song, is great. I love Ryan Ross's backup vocals on "Just can't get a hold of it"; it's a nice touch. And the guitar solo fit's in the song great.

"The Piano Knows Something I Don't Know" - I love when it first comes on you think it's going to be a slow song. But then it kicks in with "She's the smoke, she's dancing fancy pirouettes" then the song goes out with beautiful vocals from Brendon, but I do think they said "of course" a lot of times at the end, but it was a great song.

"Behind The Sea" is my favorite song on the whole album. Ryan's vocals are amazing, though the whole song I had a grin on my face, 'cause I know in live shows Ryan would always sing back up and I would always say "Why doesn't he sing more?" and now he does. I love it when Brendon comes in "Don't you know that those watermelon smiles just can't ripen underwater?". It definitely makes the song.

Then when the "Legs of wood waves, waves of wooden legs," comes in, it totally catches you off guard 'cause you think the song is just going to go out like it's been going then that comes in. I also love the lyric "We're all too small to talk to god. Yes, we're all too smart to talk to god".

"Folkin Around". I started to giggle a bit when it first came on. It reminded me back at my grandparents' house. But I love the lyrics, especially "If love is not enough to put my enemies to sleep, then I'm putting out the lantern find your own way back home". It's a simple song with great lyrics.

"She Had The World" - when it first comes on it reminds me of music back in the day.... like back in the day of knights. BUT this is a great song, and again Ryan's vocals are awesome. I love the part he sings "I don't love you, I'm just passing the time. You would love me. If I knew how to lie. But who could love me? I am out my mind. Throwing a line out to sea. To see if I can catch a dream". They're my favorite lyrics in the song. It's a great song, the melody is amazing.

"From A Mountain In The Middle Of The Cabins." First off, love the title. I love Brendon's soft voice during the chorus then when "If you're going then go" comes in it makes the song unique. And last but definitely not least "Mad As Rabbits" - this is also my favorite song in this album. I love how Ryan and Brendon switch off vocals. It's the perfect song to leave the album off on and the last line is great "We Must Reinvent Love."

After listening to it from front to back, my thought of Pretty. Odd. is... I think it's freaking amazing. To all the people who said that it was a rip off of The Beatles then that's what they can think. I can see how people can say that some songs do have a Beatles tone to it, but I know that The Beatles are one of Panic's influences so of course it might have a little Beatles flare to it.

But when people say Panic is trying to be the new Beatles that's just crazy. The only people who can pull off the Beatles are John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. And the only people who can pull of Panic At The Disco is Brendon Urie, Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith and Jon Walker. I love Pretty. Odd. as much as I love A Fever You Can't Sweat Out. So my advice to people is if you're a Panic fan then you should definitely go out and buy it. If you're just getting into Panic then my recommendation is download a couple songs at first because some people have very different taste in music. If someone asked my favorite songs off the album they would have to be That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed), When The Day Met The Night, Behind The Sea, and Mad As Rabbits. But my favorite song is Behind The Sea. Mad As Rabbits is just a hare.

So the finale thought is that you should go check out Pretty. Odd. You won't regret it, I know I didn't.
