Jim Gaffigan's Obsessed

Obsessed is the fourth album and fifth Comedy Central special for stand-up comedian Jim Gaffigan, and for fans and newcomers alike, it definitely does not disappoint. In Obsessed, Gaffigan stays true to his trademark style of observational comedy, and though the subject matter covered is similar to that of his previous albums, he still manages to keep his material feeling fresh and the laughs coming.

Best known for his spoofs of Hot Pockets and fast food chains such as Subway and McDonald's, from a quick glimpse at the track-listing, it's obvious what Gaffigan is "obsessed" with: food. The comic pokes fun at his own weight gain while hilariously dissecting some of society's very own food obsessions, like our ever-changing health food fads and the phenomena of regional fried foods.

Another reoccurring element in Gaffigan's material is the humor that can be found in everyday family life, especially fatherhood. As a continuation of "4 Kids" from his previous album, in "5 Kids," he explains how people react differently with each new addition to his family. The newest member of his family is focused on in the track "Babies Are Magic," in which Gaffigan cleverly compares his newborn to the world's worst roommate.

Overall, Obsessed serves as yet another jewel in Jim Gaffigan's body of work, and there's no doubt that some of these bits are destined to become classics. If you're in desperate need of something that will have you laughing until you're on the verge of tears, I would definitely suggest checking out Obsessed.
