Overdose

May 7th, 2014 marked the release date of EXO's second mini album, Overdose. Unlike their first full-length which came out last summer, the group went back to promoting as their designated sub-groups, EXO-K and EXO-M. The mini-album's original date was supposed to be April 21st, but due to the South Korea Sewol Ferry tragedy, the release and comeback was postponed.
Overdose has a very different feel and sound from the group's first mini-album, MAMA, which came out in 2012. While MAMA can be described as more pop/dance related, Overdose has a much more R&B like sound to it.

"Overdose" (10/10)

The first track "Overdose", which is also the album's title track, starts off with a very powerful beat. From beginning to end, this is a song that I feel will leave you wanting to dance. It's one of those songs that are infectious and catchy and can immediately draw your attention.

"Moonlight" (10/10)

"Moonlight" is one of my favorite tracks. It is such a smooth, soulful song to listen to. The vocals are amazing and it is an extremely soothing song.

"Thunder" (10/10)

"Thunder" gives me such a heavy, 90's boy band vibe. I don't know how to explain it, but it somehow reminds me of a song 'N Sync or the Backstreet Boys would've put out back in 1999 and I can't pinpoint why, but this isn't a bad thing! The song is another favorite of mine and I for one, am in love with the vocals of all of the boys on both the Korean and Chinese version.

"Run" (10/10)

This is one of the more upbeat songs on the album. Much like "Overdose", it's very catchy. It's the most pop-like song and I would categorize it as an overall fun song.

"Love, Love, Love" (10/10)

The last track of the album just might be my absolute favorite. From the vocals to the beat to the flow of the song, it's all perfect. It's an easy song to listen to and I would personally categorize it as a feel good song. It's the kind of song you want to put your headphones on for, close your eyes and just listen.

Overall

Both the Korean and Chinese versions are wonderful. Each time EXO comes back, you can tell how much their vocals have improved and how much their musical style has changed, just the slightest. They are growing more and more as musicians each day and it's for the better. I would highly recommend this mini album to any and everyone.
