The Decline

The Decline Nofx is commonly known-wait wait wait, why would I start an article about the most amazing political one-song album with background of the band. I mean the band isn't that mainstream that is known by every person in the high school, I mean shouldn't they be like that? F*ck no. Nofx has amazingly stayed out of the mainstream 'rock' you call these days by Panic At The Disco and Fall Out Boy

The Decline was released November 23, 1999. This one-song album is about eighteen minutes long. In a Nofx interview they were asked about how recording this album was and they responded:

Nightmare! Recording this fuck was a total nightmare. Writing it was a total nightmare. I'm glad we did it but I wouldn't do it again. We went back to the studio 3 different times and added stuff and remixed and remastered 4 times. It ain't no rock opera like Song Remains the Same or nothing. We got the idea from Subhumans, not Rush. Why an 18 minute song? Just to do something different. We've done enough short songs, time for a long one. Anyway, my advice, never try this song at home.

I laughed when I read you shouldn't try this at home. This song is also on the They've Actually Gotten Worse Live album. I bought the CD and when they began to play the song, I thought that this is another good song to another weird album. Sadly I got pissed at the band, the song faded out about a minute after, leaving everyone with a f*ck you back at NOFX.

While I'm writing this review I'm thinking what would be a good verse to put in here? But truth is, the whole song is amazingly well written, it may have been a pain in the ass to write, but damn it was great. To put the track listing on here would be point-less considering the album has one song, but I'm going to put it anyway.

Track-Listing: The Decline (18:19 Minutes)

The lyrics according to Fat Mike were a total nightmare. But a total nightmare became a total legend. The lyrics I find most mesmerizing are:

And so we go, on with our lives
We know the truth, but prefer lies
Lies are simple, simple is bliss
Why go against tradition when we can
Admit defeat, live in decline
Be the victim of our own design
The status quo, built on suspect
Why would anyone stick out their neck?

I rate this album a 10/10.
