...A Better View Of The Rising Moon

...A Better View Of The Rising Moon Chicago based band 1997 released "Since My House Burned Down I Now Own A Better View Of The Rising Moon" shortened to "...A Better View Of The Rising Moon" is an album that you'd play over and over on repeat, filled with inspiring lyrics and catchy tunes. Similar to also Chicago based band The Hush Sound, they're sure to get easy attention. Their first single "Garden Of Evil" is an upbeat song with bittersweet lyrics making you want to play it over and over until you memorize it. Lead singers Kevin Thomas and Kerri Mack's (who was recently replaced) voices go perfect together. Kerri later did drop out of the band right after recording the album and was replaced by now known Alida Marroni.

Though one of the main vocalist were replaced it didn't change the sound of the album too much when played live. All the songs have a meaning such as "Droppin' Dimes" a song clearly about parents' divorce and how the kids react. You may think this song sounds childish to what it's about but it's just simply bitter sweet such as the lyrics "So dad? How's the new house I bet it's nice with no kids around, mom's busy she's been working late since your last check never came. I'm glad for the raise and the move south, cause I'd rather spend your money than spend my time with you."

Another song I really recommend is "Water's Edge" not only is it the first track but it's kind of to me like a Romeo and Juliet love story in a song. Maybe not exactly, but one of those stories of when the guy can't stop chasing the girl and etc. The lyrics that really pop out along with the strong voice of Kerri is "Troubled boy, I'll kiss you one last time. Then say goodnight...forever." not only does the chorus have smart dialog but like I said it's totally relate able after a bad break up.

Another song that blew me away was "Grace" it really showed off Kerri's voice and what she'd be like if she went solo. Not only is the voice so strong but calming but the words that flow with the tone and melody create something simply beautiful.

Defiantly check this album and band out if you're someone who really loves The Hush Sound. I do think this band deserves so much credit and notice, and if you stop by in the Vans Warped Tour this year consider seeing them live. I really think this band has a lot of talent and aren't just a bunch of kids looking for fame and fortune. If you do check them out and like them look out for "On The Run" which comes out on May 27th (2008 ), with new vocalist Alida recorded in it. This underground band will sure be the next big thing sooner or later.
