Fall Out Boy

Fall Out Boy Since I will be writing a weekly column about Alternative Rock music, I think that you should know what I am talking about.

Alternative music is a softer more upbeat version of rock, usually bands add a good amount of beats to their music and songs to give it more of a pop feel. The songs are usually a pretty hardcore sound, but with a backdrop that you just want to get up and dance to. Some people call it "pansy music," and "a sad excuse for rock." For your information, this music was not meant to be rock, it was meant to be fun to listen to, while still being a little rough around the edges. If you have a problem with it, then DON'T LISTEN. I fully give you permission to leave this page now (well, not without commenting on what you disagree with. Next week, when I do a recap, I might even mention you). Go on, don't look back. Enough said.

Okay, well, I am not going to just write a whole boring article on what this stuff is and crap like that. It's just not who I am. So instead I am going to introduce you to some of my favorite bands that intertwine with this type of music.

The first band that I am going to introduce to those of the unknowing, is Fall Out Boy. Now, while some may argue that they are not really Alternative Rock, I will beg to differ. Go ahead and reread my description of Alternative Rock. Go Ahead! Tell me, what does it say? That's right, upbeat version of rock, with a pop-feel to their beats. If you have never listened to FOB, I am sorry, but if you have, you must agree that this describes their music to a T. While some of their music might be loud and more on the rock, hardcore, head-banger, side of things(not all the way, but close), they still have some softer songs with a good beat, but still some edge to the sound. A certain song that comes to mind when I think about their softer side is "I'm Like a Lawyer with the Way I'm Always Trying to Get You Off (Me and You)." Whew, long enough?(See next paragraph to see my opinion on that.) So agree with or not, but I dub this band part of the AR group*

I know that if you are a substantial visitor and/or fan of the AR genre, I am sure you have noticed the length and absurdity of some band's song titles. In the song I mentioned above, the only part of the entire title that is actually said in the song, is the subtitle, Me and You. It makes absolutely no sense what so ever. Next week's band seems to have a pattern of doing so as well (see below for next week's topic). Hmmm, go figure.

Now, I will only describe a maximum of one AR group* per week. If I did more there would be nothing left to write about, no? So next week I will tackle yet another AR band, or so you think, Panic at the Disco (no longer Panic! at the Disco, which I am not too happy about, but we'll save that for next week). Some, do not think that they are truly an AR group...anymore. But more on that next week**.

Okay, so this is giovanna bitches... saying, "Is there an alternative?" Goodbye and see you next week.
