Kerli Syndrome

Kerli Syndrome For avid Viva La Bam fans she may remind you of Raab's Estonian beauty, but Kerli is not a Russian Mail Order Bride. This experimental songstress has been compared to Bjorks early work with her first single “Love is Dead”. Her latest single “Walking on Air” takes your mind on a relaxing joy ride and at the same time, let's your inner child run free. In Estonia, they founded a phrase called”Kerli Syndrome” which means “failure” but Kerli holds no resentment, as she stated in a Neon Limelight interview. In my opinion based on her music, this “Kerli Syndrome” should really mean “Success.”

Her video taste is also reminiscent of Bjork's. The video for “Love is dead” features Kerli with an older appearance as she begins to go through reverse aging. “Love is dead, love is gone, love don't live here anymore”, she sings as scenes of nature show behind her. For “Walking on Air”, duo directors Aggressive, who are also responsible for Killswitch Engage's video for “The Arms of Sorrow”, show a fairytale land, with a number of opposites including a refrigerator that heats up rather than cools and an oven that cools rather than heats up. This video can be familiarized to that of the Chobits charactors, Chii, and Dar Chii.

Though just beginning her music career in America, this artist is bringing back what music really is, art. It is unclear what her next step is or what single she will choose next but you are interested in listening to her music, “Bulletproof” and “She's in Parties” are great tracks of her debut album “Love is Dead” to expirience the so called “Kerli Syndrome”.
