Hey Monday: If Pete Wentz Likes 'Em, Will You?

Hey Monday: If Pete Wentz Likes 'Em, Will You? To me, Florida was a boring place up until June 16th, 2007. That was the night of the Honda Civic Tour 2007, held at was once called the Sound Advice theater. Being me, and always needing to be hours early to an even, especially one with Fall Out Boy, my party arrived at the concert before the gates even opened.

However, as soon as they did, a little side stage was set up, with the Myspace.com symbol hung over it. We were introduced to a local band called Blake, the second-place-winner of the Myspace contest that landed them their gig (the first place band was unable to attend).

From the very start, I felt something (a connection, maybe?) with lead singer, Cassadee. I felt like I was special to have been able to witness a band a great as them, even if I knew none of their original songs.

That December, my friend's band was entered in a Battle Of The Bands, and I had to go to support them. A flier was posted on Myspace and, once again, I saw the name Blake. Instinctively knowing this was the same Blake I'd seen in June, I was seriously excited.

I stood right in front of guitarist Mikey while they played their short set! He even gave my friend and I his water bottle (which I had them sign and still have to this day!). I still knew more things could come out of this wonderful band from which I hailed.

Soon enough, Pete Wentz was back in the picture. He was selling a DVD through Nordstroms with his BP/Clandestine clothing, and with it came a CD. I was looking through the play list on the disc, only to have flipped out when Blake-Turn The Clocks (demo) showed up on the website!

I hurriedly called my friend to tell her our favorite local band was going National!

After a while, Blake was holding a contest on Myspace, Buzznet, and Friends Or Enemies for a new name. They were starting to record their debut album (Hold On Tight, which will be available everywhere October 7th!), but needed a new name desperately. That's where Hey Monday comes in.

A lucky fan from San Fransisco wrote in with her answer; a clever name-Hey Monday-and in return received 50 dollars!

Now? Hey Monday is finishing their recording, starting a tour with The Cab and The Academy Is..., and awaiting the day Hold On Tight comes out, just like all of us are!
