My Passion

My Passion 'This is going to be your last chance to dance with us Newcastle!'
And they danced like his puppets. Laurence René had every person in the room captivated by his melodic vocals fused with full-hearted guitar riffs; the Carling Academy, Newcastle, shook that night as not one person stood still.

If you can make them out from the blurs jumping around stage, you will see My Passion is made up of Laurence René - vocals, Jonathan Sin - drums and backing vocals, Simon Rolands - bass and synth, and John Be - guitar. The energy filling the room was enough to power Las Vegas for months on end and the sound loud enough to wake the dead.

Formed in London in early 2006, the band look as though they have just stepped out of a Tim Burton film, but beneath the well-styled hair and carefully applied makeup are four big stars in the making. Having traveled the globe and playing well over 350 shows, I would say they're well on their way.

They are currently supporting Kill Hannah on their UK tour Hope For The Hopeless and are set to release their debut album in early 2009. You would be a fool not to check out their MySpace and give them a listen, it is truly something you won't regret. This electronica-rock group are certainly set to capture the hearts of many teenagers across the world and it is no question they're going to be huge.

Music aside for a moment, after they played their set they came out to the back of the Academy and signed tickets and t-shirts for fans and posed for pictures too. If a band is willing to come out, after playing an exhausting, energetic set like theirs, and take the time to chat to their fans, then that reason alone is something to love about them.
